 Extended Metaphor

Its a metaphor that is introduced through out the poem and is related to the first metaphor.

 Painting
by Megan Sutter, Laura Young, and Sarah Peterson
                               Painting is an untamed bird.
You're free to show how you feel
                                   without consequence.
                            There's nothing holding you back.
                                 Your emotions fly wildly.

The significance of an extend metaphor is that it explains more in metaphors what really is happening. It is important because it explains more in depth. It adds more metaphors to the work. It makes better because it makes the poem sound interesting.
