Onomatopoeia

Onomatopoeia

the formation of a word by imitation of sound.

The water went splat.

The significance of an onomatopoeia is to show the imitation of a sound. It is important because it show that there is sound in the poem. It adds auditory sense in the poem. It makes it better because then the reader will hear all the sounds going on in the poem.
